Early Absence Support for Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) Salary Protection Members

The Irish Life Early Absence Service is a nurse telephone service designed to provide support to INMO Salary Protection members who are on sick leave from work and would like some help returning to health.

Along with signposting various support services, each member will receive a detailed nurse report which they can discuss with their GP, Occupational Health Advisor and their employer, and ongoing support will be provided where needed.

We fully appreciate both the physical and mental health challenges which INMO Salary Protection members can face. In view of this, our service provides access to complimentary talk therapy where needed, and if you need physiotherapy, we will help fund a few sessions for you.

Who can use the service

    INMO Salary Protection members

    You must be an INMO Salary Protection member to use the Early Absence Service.

    Required period of absence

    You should be out of work for around 4 weeks and/or have been certified by your GP to be out of work for at least a similar amount of time.

    Support for recovery and return to work

    You are looking for help to try and return to health, and believe you should be able to return to work in the coming months.

How to use the service

Contact us

The easiest way to use the service is to email our nursing team at EAS@irishlife.ie. A nurse will get in touch to arrange a suitable time for a confidential call. If email isn’t possible, you can phone the nurses directly on 01 562 5106. They’ll take your details and organise a follow-up call to support you.

Required details

To help the nurses understand your situation and respond quickly, please include:

  • Your name
  • INMO Membership Number
  • Confirmation that you are a Salary Protection member
  • Date of birth
  • Phone number
  • The date you first stopped working
  • Details from your medical cert (cause of absence and expected duration)

Free to INMO Salary Protection members

There is absolutely no cost for you to use this service. It is fully included as part of your INMO Salary Protection membership, with no fees or charges at any stage. Our aim is simply to support you during your recovery and help you get the guidance you need when you need it.
