Irish Life Group Accessibility Statement

Scope

This Accessibility Statement applies to website content and online applications made available by Irish Life that fall within the scope of ‘e-commerce services’ under the EU (Accessibility Requirements of Products & Services) Regulation 2023 (‘2023 Regulations’).

For the purpose of this Statement, references to ‘Irish Life’ include Irish Life Assurance plc (‘ILA’), Irish Life Financial Services Limited (‘ILFS’), and Irish Life Health dac (‘ILH’).

Preparation of this statement

This Statement was prepared on 27 June 2025.

Application of the 2023 Regulations

Irish Life is a leading provider of insurance and pension products in Ireland. While the 2023 Regulations do not explicitly cover the provision of insurance and pension products, it does include ‘e-commerce services’. These are broadly defined as services provided at a distance, through websites or mobile applications, by electronic means and at the individual request of a consumer with the aim of concluding a consumer contract.

This Statement applies to Irish Life’s web-based content that meets the definition of ‘e-commerce services’ under the 2023 Regulations (‘in-scope website content’). This includes websites and applications that allow retail customers to purchase insurance policies online without direct involvement from a financial adviser.

Technical Standards

Under the 2023 Regulations, e-commerce service providers may apply harmonised standards for accessibility, recognised by the European Union (‘EU’) and published in the Official Journal of the EU (‘Technical Standards’).

As of this Statement’s preparation date, the recognised Technical Standards have not yet been finalised or published.

WCAG 2.2

Pending the finalisation of recognised Technical Standards, Irish Life has assessed its in-scope website content against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines provide practical recommendations for improving accessibility for people with disabilities.

Following this assessment, we have implemented improvements to enhance accessibility for certain in-scope applications, including:

  • Easier to use controls: We’ve improved how interactive parts of the sites work so that they’re easier to use with a keyboard or assistive technology.
  • Clearer guidance and navigation: We’ve added links to some of the applications to help you move around the sites more easily.
  • Helpful messages and support: If you get stuck while using some of our applications, we’ve added alternative ways to contact us to help you.
  • Better error messages and feedback: We’ve improved how we show errors and give feedback, so it’s easier to understand what went wrong and how to fix it.

We continue to address additional areas for improvement, such as:

  • Maintaining consistent identification and navigation across pages.
  • Improving colour contrast for better readability.
  • Enhancing the accessibility of PDFs.
