At Irish Life we believe every day is Earth Day. We have only one planet and we like to ensure that through our business we take care of it. Here are just a few things we do around to make Irish Life a sustainable business.

Forward-Thinking Architecture

Our Dundalk customer service centre was created to be eco-friendly and energy-efficient, generating as much energy as it consumes. This is thanks to:

  • Increased natural lighting
  • Motion sensor LEDs
  • Rainwater harvesting systems
  • Intelligent heating and cooling systems
  • Solar panels
  • And more!

Small Improvements for Big Impacts

Each year we look at how we can improve the existing Abbey Street campus. We’re pleased to report that we are seeing improvements each year in the building’s carbon emissions. Here are a few things we’ve done around campus after consulting with beekeepers and biodiversity experts:

  • Trees located in our 2 courtyard gardens have become vital nesting sites for city centre birds
  • We replaced nutrient-depleting hedges with nectar-rich plants to attract pollinating insects
  • Planted flowers that lengthen the season of nectar availability in our landscaping
  • Introduced a Bug Hotel
  • Welcomed beehives to the campus, even producing our own honey for the first time in 2021
