Investments explained

Investing can sound complicated, but it's pretty straightforward - especially if you have an expert on hand to guide you through the process of getting started.

What is investing?

Investing is simply buying an item (property, shares, bonds, commodities) and hoping that its value will increase over time. You then sell it and make a profit.

Why should I invest?

If your money is in the bank, it is earning little or no interest. Over years, this can actually cost you money – inflation will make your savings worth less. Investing gives your money the opportunity to grow.

What return should I expect?

No investment return is guaranteed, and the past performance of funds does not indicate future growth. However, low-to-medium risk investments made over a long period of time have historically outperformed inflation.

How do I get started investing?

It’s easy - arrange a chat with one of our financial advisors at a time that suits you, and they’ll know exactly what you need to do to work towards your financial goals.

Investment basics

It's natural to have questions or doubts before you start investing, but we're here to help.

Isn’t investing risky?

There is some risk attached to investing. But if you don't invest, there is the risk your money loses value thanks to inflation. A sound investment strategy can help to mitigate the risk of losing money, and give your cash the chance to grow over time.

Is now the right time?

If you’re in an appropriate financial position to invest, then the best way to time the market is to start investing now. It’s impossible to predict when the best time to invest will be, so simply getting involved is your best bet.

How does an advisor help?

Our advisors make it easy for you to wrap your head around investing and find the best plan for your needs. A quick phone call or chat is free and the best way to get started.
