If you’ve never talked to a financial advisor before, or don’t have your own advisor, don’t worry; it’s not as daunting as it may seem. This is your first step in doing something positive for your future. We’ll walk you through the process – let’s get started.
Why do you need a financial advisor?
An advisor will help you get a better sense of your current situation and highlight where you could do more to secure your financial future. They can help you marry the two, creating a financial plan that matches your personal budget and goals.
How to get a financial advisor
If you don’t have your own financial advisor, you can book a call with one of our advisors for free to talk about life insurance, investments, and pensions products from Irish Life Assurance plc. Our advisors offer financial advice to hundreds of people across Ireland every day. Fill out the "Get expert advice" form at the bottom of most www.irishlife.ie pages (including this one!) to arrange a call for a time that suits you. Alternatively you can start your journey online first by getting a free financial review which will generate a financial plan for you and provide you with an option to then discuss your plan with a financial advisor.
You have made the big decision to get financial advice. After you fill out the form we’ll contact you and get some details to help make sure that you get the most from your meeting. We’ll tell you what information you need to have for the meeting and confirm the day and time that suits you.
What a financial advisor does
Depending on your needs and goals, your call will take between 45-60 minutes. The advisor will ask for information that helps build a clear picture of your financial situation so they can offer the best possible advice, armed with all the facts.
They’ll share their screen with you on Microsoft Teams so that you can read through documents together and talk through things like benefits, policy cover, returns, and charges in more detail. This conversation can remind you of the arrangements you have made and help you work out where there may be gaps in cover or opportunities to make your money work harder.
How much does a financial advisor cost?
A call with one of our advisors is completely free! There’s no hard sell or commitment required to do anything afterwards. So, you can take all the information and advice offered, and move at your own pace.

Before the call
Once your meeting is set up your financial advisor may send you a link to answer a questionnaire about your current finances ahead of your meeting. This will include questions like ‘What’s your income?’ and ‘What are your monthly expenses?’. This allows you to gather all the important information in your own time and get a ‘head-start’ on the meeting, so you can focus on getting the best advice for your financial needs.
Make sure that you have a stable internet connection on your computer or smartphone ahead of the call, and you’re ready to take the next step in securing your financial future!
