Experienced Financial Adviser

    Next Career Chapter

I decided I was ready for my next career chapter. Having previously worked in Financial Services, and run my own business, I chose QFA as my study path. Once I qualified, Irish Life was the best company fit for me to work as a financial adviser, with a focus clearly on the customer.

    Joining Irish Life

I joined Irish Life as an adviser just five months ago. In that short time, my experience has been both challenging and rewarding in equal measure.

    Training and Support

What has impressed me most is the depth of support available. Despite having many years of professional experience, I still wanted a structured environment where I could continue to develop. The training at Irish Life is thorough and practical, and my colleagues and managers have been consistently open and approachable. That combination has allowed me to build confidence quickly in the role, while still stretching myself and learning every day.

    Opportunities

Working as a financial adviser at Irish Life gives me the opportunity to bring together my previous experience in business and financial services with my commitment to supporting customers. The conversations I have are often at important points in people’s lives. Being able to listen carefully, understand their priorities and help them navigate choices with clarity is genuinely fulfilling.

Although I am relatively new to the role, I can already see a clear path for continued growth. There is a strong emphasis on professionalism, ongoing learning and maintaining high standards of advice. For someone who values doing things properly and putting the customer first, this environment is very well suited.

    My advice for prospective advisers

For anyone considering a career as a financial adviser with Irish Life, particularly those who may be changing direction or returning to financial services, a few reflections from my own experience:

    1. Your previous experience is an asset
Skills built over many years, whether in finance, business or other fields, transfer extremely well into this role. Experience in dealing with people, making decisions and handling responsibility all add real value.
    2. Keep learning
The QFA and ongoing training provide a strong technical foundation, but the learning does not stop there. Regulations, products and customer expectations evolve, and Irish Life supports advisers in keeping their knowledge up to date.
    3. Put the customer at the centre
If your instinct is to do the right thing for the customer, you will feel at home here. The culture is very much focused on delivering suitable, well considered advice rather than short term outcomes.
    4. Use the support around you
Even with significant professional experience, it is important to make use of the guidance available. Discussing cases, seeking clarification and sharing insights with colleagues all contribute to better advice and continued development.
    5. Do not underestimate the satisfaction in the role
Helping someone feel more secure and informed about their financial future is deeply rewarding. If you care about people and enjoy meaningful conversations, you are likely to find this work very satisfying.
