Irish Life's pre-Budget submission to Government sets out proposals to help households' money work harder and to strengthen the health insurance system for every generation.

The submission centres on two big ideas:

  • Personal Investment Accounts: these should be designed with the same simplicity and certainty that made Special Savings Incentive Accounts (SSIAs) a success. This will better allow more than €160 billion of cash on deposit to be put to work for savers in Ireland.
  • Health insurance: the submission proposes a fairer way to fund community rated health insurance, reducing the cost of entry for younger adults so that the system can reain affordable and sustainable as people live longer.
