What is a Personal Investment Account (PIA)?
The proposed Personal Investment Account aims to make investing simpler and more accessible for Irish savers. It could offer tax benefits and a simpler experience compared with some existing investment products.
Why is the government introducing PIA?
Irish households missed out on around €800 million in deposit interest in 2024 by keeping money in low or no-interest accounts. The Government's aim is to make saving and investing easier for people who may otherwise leave money in cash.
